And The Nominees Are…

With the news that Tracee Ellis Ross and absolute internet delight Leslie Jordan are reading the Oscar nominees on Tuesday… well, we’re psyched (and so is Mr. Jordan!)

Since they’ll be much to say once those (perfectly pronounced) names are read, The Chair is holding any further comment until we can assess all the snubs, surprises, and snoozes (you know they’ll be some). Stay tuned for a new podcast tackling all things Oscar nominations — coming THIS week! The glitz, the glam, the awards, the surprises, and yes, whatever that James Bond number was (hint: not good, sweetie).  We talk all things Anora, Mikey's big upset (we love you Elisabeth Sparkle), Brody's endless speech, and the stunning opening number (Cynthia Erivo EGOT when?). Tis The… OSCAR SEASON!

As each week in 2022 so far seems to raise a different answer to that age-old question first posed by mid-century humorist Dorothy Parker – what fresh hell is this? – why don’t we just speak about this year’s pending Oscar nominations announcement on Feb. 8?

The actual awards aren’t being given out until March 27th so we have a lot of content time.  

And we have a lot of nominees.

This year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has deemed there can be no LESS than TEN best picture nominations.  They say it’s the pandemic but we say it’s more that we live in an age where –

EVERYONE GETS A PARTICIPATION PRIZE.

But more of that on the podcast, along with the Chair’s love for Andrew Garfield’s performance in Tick, Tick…Boom!  And the relentless overpraise for the film…
