The Chair household went on a mini-vacation this week and managed to decompress.
A little bit.
We attribute that to driving along various beach communities on the California coastline for three or four days, walking near the ocean and indulging in….well, a few things.
Or too many to remember.
Was it a total media blackout? No, but it was a lot less.
Which is just fine.
Truth be told, in these times one (Note: Meaning I) needs to maintain some semblance of communication with the outside world just in case of….well, a few things.
Okay, more than a few.
If only for self-protection.
That being said, the Chair will be fully back on the page, screen, or whatever your metaphor of choice next week.
Even though we just returned, I’ve already binged the fifth and final season of The Bear (Note: I’m gonna miss Carmy’s total confusion at life and Syd’s total immersion in her craft), a series that is not a comedy but not quite a drama and gets a lot of complaints about being neither.
I, however, have none.
Yes, it’s messy and awkward but the naysayers forget that’s its greatest strength. A sort of indie oddball reflection of what it means to be human, long for family, and yet, go running for the hills if the wrong, or even right, person tries to get too close.
We’re a weird species.
