The Oscars That Were

You can’t do an Oscars podcast without following it up with a post-mortem Oscar podcast.

Well, you could, but what fun is that?

About as much fun as sitting front row center in a white suit as dozens of people trounce past you on their way to pick up their own piece of gold-plated Hollywood history while you’re left holding….

Ok, never mind.

The 98th Academy Awards | 2026

The 98th Academy Awards will be remembered for many things, but among them the year beloved Hollywood filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson finally got his long-deserved  Oscar(s) for his epic dramedy One Battle After Another.

After 14 nominations and no wins,  PTA won THREE in the categories of best adapted screenplay, best direction and best picture – all HIGHLY deserved in our book and at our moment in U.S. history.

Which is not to say we didn’t love Sinners. Or Sentimental Value.  Or Amy Madigan, Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley’s speeches.  Or the moment that…

Well, click here and you can hear more thoughts and a relieve a couple of particularly memorable snippets from the telecast:

And in case you haven’t yet seen it, here’s a clip of Michael B. Jordan stopping by In-N-Out Burger right after the show, with his Oscar, to chow down, sign autographs and pose for pictures with anyone who wanted one.

You’re welcome.

It’s Oscar Pod Time!

The Oscars are upon us and, If you’re like the rest of us Sinners, you probably agree this year has been One Battle After Another.

See what I did there??

Well, how could you miss it.

I think you mean Chairy

Normally I don’t like puns but this year has been anything but normal. Which is why we here at notesfromachair.com decided to take a Sentimental Journey into the capstone event of awards season with our annual Oscar podcast.

Yes, The Chair, and Notes executive editor Holly Van Buren, decided to Frankenstein the blog into the pod this week in order to divert our minds away from the doom scrolling debacle of…so many things.

Also known as our national F1 race to the bottom of….

Okay, enough.  I promise.

Click on the link below (or here) and join us and our own personal Oscar voter, screenwriter extraordinaire Barry Sandler, who will share his picks as well as who  he thinks WILL win.

Just know Barry been trying to bend the Academy to his will for…  Well, let’s say he wasn’t old enough to vote for All About Eve but was able to NOT cast a ballot for Rocky.

As opposed to Holly and myself, who only have non-voting opinions and decent odds of winning our designated Oscar pools.

Along with the rest of you, now.

Also, for the record, ballet and opera reign SUPREME with us.

Oops.
