Brain Break

The Chair is in the thick of finals — you know that part of May that simultaneously feels like the Christmas rush and Tax Day all wrapped into one? OK so you get it, it’s stressful.

Evergreen

But lucky for us, the Chair took a break and watched this week’s SNL featuring Abbott Elementary’s queen of all things Quinta Brunson — and he’s happy to report, it was a standout episode of the season. So, as the Chair dots his i’s and crosses his t’s, and doles out the As, Bs, and hopefully very few Cs, here are some highlights. Consider it a brain break, a glimmer of sunshine, or maybe just some stuff to watch at lunch.

The Chair Recommends: The Studio

While many of you might be wondering who gets the axe on White Lotus (still rooting for toothy Chelsea to survive!), The Chair has been enamored with Apple TV’s newest venture The Studio. A barely exaggerated view of the movie biz with none other than Seth Rogen as a newly installed studio chief.

Littered with guest stars in the best possible way (Hi Marty! Hi Charlize!), Rogen’s studio head has to deal with every Hollywood stereotype while also making a movie adaptation of the Kool Aid man (seriously, not kidding here). Rogen loves movies, but his job is to destroy them. How perfect is that? Anyway, take a few moments away from watching government officials destroy our democracy and watch this gem, which will most certainly clean up at the Emmys. Beware Hacks, there’s a new meta sheriff in town.

Till next week…
